We had a great opening school Mass with Fr Benito, he reminded us all that a Catholic school not only develops our mind but our heart as well.  We look forward to Fr Benito,      Fr Peter and Fr Paulo working with school over the coming years.

Thank you to all of you who have booked a learning conference time (parents with students in years 4-8), this is a great time to meet the teacher, see the classroom and ask any questions. Please do this as soon as possible.  See the information by moving through the posts.

New families-If your child is new to the school and you have not attended a formal welcome, please come to our ‘new to school welcome’ on Friday 6th March,   9am-11am. For new families, please meet in the library at 8.50am but send children to classes so they can be marked off the roll.  They will then return to the library.  We will start with a Māori based welcome ‘Powhiri’.  If you know the New Zealand National Anthem, we would love you to sing along.  Otherwise, just enjoy the experience.

First Communion-Last chance for registration, if you are keen, let the parish office know (the building to the left of the church).  Students need to attend Mass this coming Saturday at 6pm or Sunday at 10.30am to receive their study bibles.   If you can’t make this for whatever reason, you will need to let the priest/parish office know.  Attendance is recorded at every event, so please do your best to make them a priority.

Attendance and Lateness – We have been advised by the Ministry that they are going to monitor attendance more closely this year.   So far this year we have had  46+ late sign-ins, that’s for the first 10 days of school!  It is essential that children arrive at school early enough to put bags away and prepare to start the day at 9am sharp.   Lateness is very disruptive to classes and each late child also means the office is disrupted to amend attendance rolls.

We understand that occasionally mornings don’t go as planned but this should be the exception rather than the rule.  Perhaps if you find yourself often in this situation you might adjust your routine to allow more time to get to school on time.

Likewise,   if your child needs to leave early it should be for valid a reason not for convenience.
