Greetings to you all!
Welcome to Māori Language Week! The theme of our entrance is ‘Strengthen the Māori Language’. This is  a great opportunity to join the majority of people in the world who can speak more than one language and to celebrate our indigenous language. Please join us on this journey at least for the week.

Hākarameta o te waina me te taro
E mihi atu ana ki ēnei tamariki nā te whiwhika o te hākarameta ‘Hapa Tuatahi’ i tēnei Rātapu. I ātaahua te rā! Mēnā, kai a koe ētahi atu whakaahua papai, tukua mai! E rere atu ana te mihi ki Rebekah rāua ko Janette i te whakarite o kā tamariki, kā mātua, te rā hoki!

Communion
Congratulations to these children receiving their First Communion on Sunday. It was a beautiful day. If you have some good photos, send them to us. Big thanks to Rebekah and Janette for the preparation of the children, parents and the day.

Koru Games next week
This is a big item in our calendar. It is basically the South Island Champs for sports. We have won many volleyball titles at it and hope to do the same in volleyball and Kī o Rahi this year. Some seniors and teachers will be away Tuesday to Thursday next week with this. We wish them luck.

Te Taiopeka Ahurea Iti o te Kāhui (Hato Mere, Hato Hemi, CCC/Ko mātou)-Wiki 10
I a mātou, e whakarite ana tēnei Taiopeka, ka rerekē te taumata o te Mate Corona. Nā reira, kai te tukua ā mātou rōpū ārahi ki te whakaatu, waihoki, kā pakeke hai mineka. Ko te tūmanako ia, he hui nui, he rōpū nui mō ā tērā tau, ōrite ki te rōpū o mua.
Ka whakaatu mātou i tētahi pe’e Kuki Airani (kā tama), tētahi waiata-ā-rika (rōpū kapahaka ārahi), tētahi kanikani Hāmoa (rōpū Sāmoa ārahi). Ka hopukina te whakaaturak mā tātou!

The Hub Mini Cultural Festival (St Marys/St James/CCC/us)-Week 10
When this was organised, it was done during covid levels. Therefore we are sending just our leadership groups to perform in this along with the rest of the seniors to watch. We are planning for a huge group next year like we have had in the past. We will be performing a Cook Island based dance/haka (Kapahaka Leadership Boys/Sāmoan Leadership Boys), an action song (Kapahaka Leadership Group), a siva Sāmoa (Sāmoan Leadership Group). We will video the performance!

The following dates for 2023 have been confirmed by the BOT:
Term 1: Tuesday 7 February to Thursday 6 April
Term 2: Monday 24 April to Friday 30 June
Term 3: Monday 17 July to Friday 22 September
Term 4: Monday 9 October to Thursday 21 December

Subway  –  Ko Wenerei te rā whakamutuka mō tēnei wāhaka hai tono kai. Ka kati a Subway a tēnei Paraire 17 Hepetema apanoa ki te mutuka o te toa whakahou.

Subway  –  Wednesday will be the last day for ordering for this term.  Subway will be closing this Friday 17 September until next term when they will have a lovely refurbished store.
